Well as the dust settles on a wonderful day of Unsigned music Sunday 3rd June , and after a 300 round trip from "that there south", we head back to a quiet fenland time, with wonderful spirits and passion of salford ringing in our Ears.We may have only had a small crowd, but the people came, they danced, smiled and all had a great time. Eight bands, I DJ set a CD release, not bad for a days work.
|Jubilee Nine Track EP released 3rd June|
Just a big thank you to all the bands who played, thank you all for sharing your passion and craft with us and with the people who turned out on a cold damp jubilee Sunday to be entertained by your music. From the first band Saturday Morning Cartoons. Henry Cole, ZAP, ZAP ZAP, Ruby Tu...esday, Ben Peel, Dear Sherlock, Neale James, The Happy Fallen, Stalagmites, AAAK [As Able As Kane], and the boys from Suzuki method for an awesome DJ set and a truly chilled out old school dance set to top it all off, Ken, Jimmy, Dave for lights and sound and all kings arms, TV salford, Wink Ball Reporters - thanks for making it a memorable gig, at least we can say, well we did something different, creative, inventive, fun, and above all, did not settle for mediocrity on Jubilee Day In Salford.
Sunday 3rd June 2012 began with an early start and a trip up the A1 across the windswept pennines and down into the gray and rainy skies of Manchester. Today, that city has its own musical delights on offer, beached festival, Manchester Euro culture Festival, all excellent prospects, but to get away from the Jubilee TV and to sample something different we opt to spend our day the Good Old City Of Salford, That sits proudly in the shadow of Granada TV, a stones throw away from Where Mr Wilson hosted those brilliant so it goes music broadcasts and pull up in Bloom Street Salford. This event has been billed as an alternative twist on the jubilee and the pre gig blurbs promise an "Urban Mash of Musical styles".
For us it was a long day, we got home noon the next day, it was worth it, we love music, want to make a difference, don't complain about band events, gigs or promoters, do something about it - Make a Difference don't settle for mediocrity
