Part 1 - The Men at the Controls
David Tolan
BPI Platinum awarded producer.

Formerly a writer and producer his first venture “Shine” a 27 minute epic met with exceptional reviews, critical acclaim and widespread international press coverage namely the Times, The Daily Mirror, The NME. After signing to EMI, David  started working with many other artists: Tori Amos, Denise Johnson, Primal Scream, Tears for fears and many artists on the WEA and Ministry of Sound label.

David scored a hit twice with “Rays of the Rising Sun” a track penned and produced with Denise Johnson, an incredible artist who gave such epic and euphoric vocals to Screamadelica - Primal Scream’s most seminal album to date. David remixed “Rays” several times and scored a platinum selling hit on the Ministry of sound label. He started developing many Manchester artists who have now achieved success namely Cherry Ghost, Delphic, 1913 & Denise Johnson.

Jim Spencer

Multi BPI Gold awarded producer.

Jim has been working in the music industry for nearly 20 years, and is one of the most respected engineer producers in the U.K. He has engineered or produced several U.K. top ten albums and many more top 20 albums. He started his career as a tape op at the internationally renowned Chapel studios, and went freelance after one of his recordings charted at number one in the UK album charts (Black Grape ‘Its great when your straight, Yeah!’).

His first freelance project was with Manchester outfit ‘Electronic’, Johnny Marr and Bernard Sumner’s “supergroup” also featuring Karl Bartos from Kraftwerk. The album went on to chart in the U.K. top 10, and launched the beginning of many successful years of working alongside Johnny and Bernard in many other projects, including co producing New Order’s last album and engineering and mixing the vast majority of Johnny Marr’s work over the last 15 years.

What the music Industry Says about Tolan and Spencer Team

“I’ve worked with the guys on a lot of projects. They are experienced and forward thinking, and technically as good as you can get.”-  Johnny Marr

“The Charlatans have worked with tons of engineers and producers and yet when asked who I should wish to work with? I would always come back to Jim. Jim has worked with me on 5 charlatans albums. He is the best,-

Tim Burgess, The Charlatans.

“Dave produces passionately with every artist he works with, his aim is to get the best out of every individual so that they perform above the ability they currently have. More importantly for me, he really knows how to capture a great vocal and make it come alive in his recordings. His production knowledge and skill means that the finished track is always of the highest standard”
Denise Johnson (Primal Scream)

SUZUKI METHOD - Announce New Production and Promotion Deal

Press Release - Salford England - 7th November 2011

Suzuki Method announce today that they have entered into an alliance with legendary producers; David Tolan (Primal Scream, Tears for Fears, Johnny Marr) & Jim Spencer (New Order, Cribs, Charlatans) to record their debut album. “CARPE FERIA”.  As part of this deal they have also teamed up with independent not for profit FMS promotions to handle PR support and artist development services.   The band are currently in pre production and launch their own clubnight, December 2nd, more details released soon.

SUZUKI METHOD BIO

Since emerging from the infamous house parties of Salford on to the Manchester scene, Suzuki Method have accomplished the unlikely feat of marrying the polar worlds of hard rock and eighties dance.

Like Queens Of The Stone Age transplanted to the Hacienda, or The Fall jamming at Studio 54, Suzuki Method are a band that hits you in the solar plexus, while simultaneously energizing your dancing feet. They take you to a place where screaming guitars fly over house beats while synthesizers converse and lyrics bemoan and rejoice in unison.
Intelligent, principled, defiantly old-school, announced that they have formed an alliance with legendary producers David Tolan (Primal Scream, Tears for Fears, Johnny Marr) & Jim Spencer (New Order, Cribs, Charlatans) to record their debut album “CARPE FERIA”.

A sold out debut EP on Factory foundation records under their belts, impeccable Northern music credentials and a wonderfully futurist imperative on UK music, Suzuki Method have pitched themselves as true rock 'n' roll outsiders destined to gate crash the Manchester and UK music scene in 2012.
