A1 (M) Record Label - News and Updates

About A1(M) Records

The labels passion for new and exciting music was fueled in a dark corner of the northwest of England Late in the autumn of 1978, In a small dark, damp corner of England something stirred us from our mundane existence. Music, loud, exciting, pounding, dark, happy, grinding, soulful, twisted, soaring. Music had a purpose and it shaped our lives- We had missed the first wave, but were shaped by its backwash.

So began a love affair for live and exciting music, crashing guitars, pounding electro beats, energy and passion and any type of music that showed no respect for rules and the traditions of the past and everyone could be part of. Music feeds dreams and keeps us alive, we live, exist and die to the sounds of music, it makes you happy, makes you sad, lifts you up, and throws you down.

We collided with a time when music made you feel special and invincible, you picked up a guitar or a bass, or a synth or a drum and you gave it a go. No thoughts of failure, just pure enthusiasm and the desire to do something different.

As the Years past we fell out of love with music but it remained in our soul, - it never goes away. We were reunited with live music in 2005, ran official Manchester In the City gigs from 2007 onwards and worked with over 300 unsigned bands.

We self released three independent 22 track compilation records feature the best of Cambridge and UK unsigned music between 2005 and 2009. We continue to support new music and set up this label to launching new and exciting music that's fun, and loud, interesting and challenging.

We live, exist and die to the sounds of music, it makes you happy, makes you sad, lifts you up, and throws you down. Enjoy it, savor every note and beat. Music styles and fashion come and go, but real music leaves a lasting impression and forms the soundtrack to your life.

100 Club Live Review - The I.D

The I.D live at the 100 club -Indie Festival Live 30th August 2012

Last night the London/Swiss/Irish outfit The I.D restored my faith in the Indie band, with a rousing and beat perfect set of finely crafted, dark, yet melodic songs. Mix telecaster, echo, re-verb, delay, with one of the most distinctive classic indie rock voices, add booming, hypnotic,  yet metronomic rhythm and I am hooked. The music pierces out over the famous club, you look at the band on that stage, eyes fixed, determined, every sinew of the singer strained in a pose not unlike a young Jim Morrison or an un-tortured Ian Curtis. You look at the walls of the hundred club and you see real passion for music - its acted out for real life by this band, a rare treat on a midweek London night, The 100 Club never lets you down,  Go see the I.D for something real and passionate in new music.

Press Coverage

An exciting new band set for great things "The I.D surface new wave among the distortion. Indie pop, surf rock and new wave can all be summarized quite simply within a few artists, but it's when the genres mix with the heavier and more textured alternative rock / post-punk, that the outcome becomes spectacular -
